REVIEW
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this Advanced Reader Copy of Dating Dr Love.
Dating Dr Love by Rachel Dove is a fake-dating trope with a mix of medicine (well a week long medical conference) and fame with celebrity Logan Broderick. Any book that has fake-dating as a trope is an immediate add to my ever growing TBR. I’m a sucker for reading the characters fake date and eventually fall in love, so this is one of the reasons I signed up for this ARC. So if you’re a fan of the fake-dating trope like I am, Dating Dr Love might be your next easy read.
We follow Chloe Henry a hardworking doctor with a well known last name in terms of her parents and sister who are also doctors. Chloe is aiming to take over the head of the department once they retire but is in contest in her nemesis Johnathan Carson. Enter Logan Broderick, an actor who plays a TV doctor – Dante Love whose current scandals might cost him an upcoming film role that he wants. Their worlds collide – literally – when a hotel worker accidentally leads Logan to Chloe’s room and lands them both in an accidental mishap that lands them in a viral scandal. To save both their reputations and careers, they both agree to fake a relationship for some calculated publicity. Over the course of a week they slowly fall for each other and that leads for Chloe to run (like pretty much every fake-dating trope).
Now both characters had such fun banter and there are moments that had me giggling like all the pillow throwing and a part of the paintball tournament. Some of the times though the pacing was a little slow and made me want to jump ahead. It was a little predictable but thats because of the fake-dating trope with them eventually falling for each other and then one of them running and then having to convince the other that it can work out. Dating Dr Love though had a little twist on that specific third act of the story.
That said, Dating Dr Love is an easy and enjoyable read that was a quick romantic escape from everything going on in life. I gave this a 3 out of 5 stars.
